Entering the game, the reigning MVP Westbrook, who just signed a five-year, $205 million extension with the Thunder, showed little regard for the team from Down Under, telling reporters “I ain’t expecting s-t” when asked about Sunday’s game. Ware admitted that Westbrook’s words provided a little extra motivation for the team.
“I love talk like that,” he said. “We were always the underdog, we knew that coming in. They didn’t scout us, they didn’t know nothin’ about us, they didn’t respect us. We knew that and we made them respect us tonight.”
Defensively Ware was tasked with the job of containing the explosive Westbrook, and played him close all game. Despite giving up five inches and about 25 pounds to the Oklahoma guard, Ware forced Westbrook into a couple of early turnovers, pulling the chair on him twice in the first quarter forcing him to fall to the ground.
“If there’s anything that is disrespectful to the flag, then we will not play,” Jones said Sunday. “Understand? We will not … if we are disrespecting the flag, then we will not play. Period.”
Jones clarified Monday night that not standing at attention during the anthem is what he considers disrespectful and unacceptable.
He said players “need consequences” to stand up to peer pressure, and that “it’s in the best interests of the Dallas Cowboys, the NFL and the players” to honor the flag.
A big salute to Jerry Jones, owner of the Cheap Utah Jazz Jerseys Dallas Cowboys, who will BENCH players Cheap Throwback Jerseys who disrespect our Flag.”Stand for Anthem or sit for game!”
